Why You Should Train Your Dog

Dogs are different from people. Dogs have special needs and they communicate or behave differently compared to people. So when you decide to bring a dog home, you cannot expect them to immediately fit in. It may take time before you can learn about them needs and let them know of your needs, too. Dog training is not only intended for your dog. It can be beneficial to you, too.

One way to ensure an ideal relationship with your dog is through dog training. It is also one of the best means to teach your dog good manners and help him or her become educated. During training, you can teach dogs a wide range of tricks through a number of cues or commands. It is in a dog’s nature to learn by interacting with their environment and with the help of different training procedures, they can learn fast. Spending time in training your dog can lead them to gain polite behaviors, which they can turn into lasting habits.

There are a lot of things you can teach a dog. House training, for example, is one of the basic training methods used by most pet owners. This is because the first few weeks of owning a dog is considered most difficult. By house training your dog, you can teach them that soiling in the house is not an option. This can be done for dogs between the ages of 12 and 16 weeks. It is at this age that dogs can already control their bladder and bowel movements. To house train your puppy, you will have to establish a routine. Making them aware of a regular schedule is essential. Through this, they will know that there are specific times of the day when they should be eating, playing or doing their business. When eliminating, you will need to designate a spot for your dog outside your home. Every time they eliminate outside, you can praise them or give them treats as reward. If you cannot monitor your dog all the time, you also have the option to confine them through crate training. To dogs, crates are their own private room. Because they do not usually want to soil in their crates, it is a good choice of equipment for house training. However, proper procedures must be taken when crate training dogs so as not to make them feel trapped and/or frustrated when inside their crates.

Dog training is not an immediate procedure. You may have to spend a lot of time just learning the basics. Because of this, taking your dog to training classes may be preferable. You can find a suitable instructor for your dog to ensure that his or her needs are being met while you are not around. Dogs that range from 9 to 16 weeks can already start attending these classes. Finding a suitable training course for your dog is one of your duties as a responsible pet owner.
