Importance of Animals Rights
We can say that animals and human beings have some similarities in the sense that they have consciousness and they are also very responsive. There are many pet owners in this world who would quickly tell you that animals are unique and they are precious in their own identity, and they should certainly be loved and nurtured. There are many people in this world who don’t really care what animals feel or be concerned that they are nourished and cherished because they are lower than human beings when it comes to intelligence.
There are many people today who do not care about the lives of animals and they don’t see the animals’ right to life that they deserve. Humans are a lot superior than animals and that is seen in the moral realm also, and there are advocates of this belief. There are also those who don’t believe that animals feel, sense, or experience like humans do and that they should not be give a status equal to humans but lower than them. These beliefs came from a faulty sense of righteousness and entitlements. When the cognitive biases are overcome, the reality that all animals do have rights becomes significant.
Living in a clean, safe place where they can survive is another right that should be given to animals. We het a glimpse of the horrors that human beings can do to our natural ecosystem when we find lush rainforests reduced to flat plains and beautiful coral reefs becoming ocean wastelands. Humans who destroy the natural ecosystem for their own gain are guilty of depriving animals a basic right to have a clean and safe home. This is the reason why the green movement is also closely linked with the animal rights movement.
One of the most popular displays of human greed is using animals for products for profit. When there is economic incentive, then mortality is disregarded altogether. Some examples of this are poachers, shark finners, and other people who view animals solely as commodities. It is disturbing how the basic rights of animal life are discarded and replaced with a dollar sign. There should be alternative to animal products if we want to preserve their rights to life without suffering.
Animal rights activists are very strong in what they believe in. Here are the things that animal rights advocates believe in.
Animals have consciousness and should not be compared to machines or objects. Animals have interests of their own. Human beings should be responsible to respect interests of animals. Animals should not be exploited by human beings. Human beings should not treat animals as objects. Humans have no right to kill animals.
It takes volumes to really cover the scope of animals rights.
